Welcome Aboard to My Abroad!
Hello everyone! Welcome to my travel blog for my semester abroad. I know this is quite early to start, but I'm SO excited and can't contain it anymore. Finals are really hitting me hard and I can't write my essays, so why not write a blog?! First, I'll give you all a little information about my much anticipated time in Europe...
Just in case you don't know, I'm going to FLORENCE!!!! Ah yes, Italy, the heartland...where pasta is made daily and the wine is poured generously. The last time I was in Italy I could, in no way, appreciate it like I'll be able to this time around. (See below for awkward picture of me trying to be a cool local.)
Yup there it is.
But anyways, I'm studying at Florence University of the Arts, and (hopefully) living in the city center. I haven't been given my apartment address yet, (or should I say flat...no I think that's England...see this will be interesting) but I'll post it when I do. I'm taking five classes, which all are going to be filled with history of the city, food, and of course, fashion! My schedule is pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.
So far, I have two trips already planned. My first big excursion is going to be the weekend of March 1st. My #roomie for the semester, Fran showed me this trip. After not so much convincing, we both booked a long weekend to Budapest, Salzburg, and Vienna. This is probably the trip I'm most excited for, aside from Spring Break, just because I never dreamed I'd be casually going to Austria and Hungary! The other big adventure we booked is Spring Break. This is going to be the trip of a lifetime and we're hitting some major spots in northern Europe. It's a 9 day excursion that brings us to Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris. This is going to expose me to so much more culture than I ever could have imagined.
Aside from the excursions I'll go on, I'm really looking forward to just being in Italy. I want to see the coast and the countryside, from the northern border all the way to the southern tip! Besides Florence, I would love to explore Tuscany, Bologna, Malta, Pompeii, and Cinque Terre. (Just to name a few) I want to learn more about my heritage and share it with family back home as I go. This blog is going to be all about the trips I take, the food I eat, and the things I learn while spending a semester away. So, as I get ready to pack my bags and head off to the EU, I invite you all to follow my journey and watch me wander the world!

As you can see, I have a lot of free time which will by no means go to waste. I want to explore as much of Florence as I can. (really determined to hit every single gelato shop)
I just got my visa approved and back from the consulate, so it's all becoming extremely real now. For a long time, while working on my application, being abroad seemed so out of touch. I remember seeing my older sister take this journey herself and I've been dreaming of it since! But the reality is also setting in...I'm actually going to be living in a foreign country in a month and am a little *terrified*...if I stop posting you'll know to send the search party out for me. (kidding...kind of) BUT, on a lighter note, I'm really looking forward to learning more about myself while being out of my comfort zone!
